Jalan Pakis issue has been prolonged till now letting the barricades on the road not knowing the fate of it. Residents from Fern Grove insist on permanent closure of it and the residents from surrounding tamans insists on opening of the road.
The decision to remove the barricades to allow Trafic Impact Assesment (TIA) survey has been argued for months and lastly, a meeting between residents representatives from surrounding tamans and the professional surveyor, Mr Goh has been commenced on 24th January 2011 at my service center. Mr Goh, by showing his professional ways to conduct the survey has managed to persuade the residents to allow the survey to be done with the road closed.
The survey are not meant for Jalan Pakis only but it is for the whole traffic flow of the area. I am not going to say I support closure or vice versa. What I am hoping and dreaming is to upgrade our traffic flows to a smoother flow to ensure all our residents in Majlis Perbandaran Kajang (MPKj) residing in zone 2(my zone) will not suffer traffic jams every morning.
The report are expected to be completed by the end of February 2011 and it will be tabled to MPKj Infrastructure Committee for discussion before decision to be made. I will made it open to public as soon as possible to avoid doubts from both sides of residents. As for information, the report will indicate three parts of precautions to be done to improve the traffic flow. First, it will point out the upgrades which need immediate actions from MPKj which will not cost much. Secondly, the intermediate actions which shall be done within three years time and lastly, the long term measures to be implemented on coming developments.
Nobody knows what will be the outcome of the survey but I truly hopes that it will help to solve the issue in a good manner. It is hard to solve these types of issue through a win-win way but it can be solve in a way that the winner does not win all and the loser does not lose all. No matter how, as a Local Councilor for the area, I will do what is the best for the residents and the Jalan Pakis issue may be a blessing in disguise…to improve the living quality of the area.
