The Selangor government, via the Malaysian Road Records Inventory System (Marris), has allocated approximately RM57,000 for the road works.
Kajang Municipal Council councillors Eddie Ng and Bryan Lai recently visited the site to monitor the road works.
Ng said, “The road is frequently damaged and riddled with potholes, making it a safety risk, especially when it rains.
“Since last year, Selangor assemblymen each received RM1mil for repairing and resurfacing roads, it is to be used for emergency repairs so that the repairs works are not hindered by red tape.
“Under this policy, all Pakatan assemblyman will be given the allocation, while for BN constituencies, the funds are given to the state-appointed liaison officers.”
Ng said, “Previously, the allocation for Marris was determined by the Public Works Department, Department of Irrigation and Drainage and local councils.
“Now the Selangor government has decided to allow assemblymen to be a part of the process.
“The assemblymen will identify roads and drains that are in urgent need of repairs and raise the matter with the state.”
“Following this, there will be other roads in Balakong that will be resurfaced,” he said.
